Someone Has to Love the Phantom!!!

We'll just call this Signe's weekend and finish it off with another funny story about her, shall we?

One the way home from church today we were listening to the sound track to Phantom of the Opera. Rob was telling the story and pausing occasionally to explain what was happening to the girls. We get to the end where the Phantom has kidnapped Christine and taken her to the "dungeon of his mind" beneath the opera house and captured her fiance, Raoul. Rob explains how the phantom tells Christine she must choose to be with him or he will kill Raoul. Of course he lets her go and cries out in grief, "Christine, I love you!" as Raoul rushes her off.

Here Rob emphasizes how the phantom loved Christine and she left him, because he hurt people and was bad. And besides, she loved Raoul.

We glance back to see Signe sobbing. Shocked, we ask her what is wrong. She catches her breath and cries, "Someone has to love the phantom!" She emphatically tells us she would have gone with the phantom.

The only way we could calm her down was to assure her the phantom left and met a phantom princess and they loved each other. Signe quickly decided she would be the phantom princess. All evening she played phantom with the barbies, making sure the phantom had someone to love him.
