Writer's Workshop

. . . with MamaKat

Prompt of choice: 3.) Could a routine become interesting through words?  Write about a person (perhaps you) caught up in a daily routine.  Establish a rhythm with the story’s words that impersonates the rhythm of the routine.

I wrote a poem instead of a story, mostly because it's quicker.  I make no claims of greatness.

My Week: And Repeat . . .
Monday morning, rise and shine
Get the girls to school on time.
Finish my homework, hurry to class
Beat the bus, rush home fast.
Homework, piano, dinner, pick up,
Put them to bed with a kiss and tuck.
Tuesday morning, up and at ‘em,
Bath ‘em, feed ‘em, dress ‘em, send ‘em
Meeting, cleaning, reading, writing,
walk the puppy, please no biting!
School is out, grab a snack pack,
Don’t forget your tennis racket.
Dinner, piano, homework, pickup
Put them to bed with a kiss and tuck.
Wednesday morning, roll out of bed,
Eat  some cereal, comb some bed head.
Bus, homework, literature class,
Follow the girls home at last.
Dinner, piano, homework, the usual,
leave the girls and head to mutual.
Thursday morning, start the day,
One to school, one to ballet.
Cleaning, reading, writing, blogging,
Walk the puppy, please no jogging!
Here’s the bus, sassy retort,
Hurry to the tennis court.
Dinner, piano, spelling, pickup,
Fall into bed after a kiss and a tuck!
Friday’s here, we’re almost through,
There is plenty still left to do.

Class at ten, lunch at noon,
Volunteer, we’ll be home soon.
Bell rings and we’re out of sight. . .
Off to start our family date night!
Play, dinner, play, then movie,
Friday nights are really groovy.
It’s Saturday, shout hurrah
Grab a hammer, start the saw.
Garden, build, paint, clean,
Piano lessons, make them ring.
Sunday morning, lounge and lay
Go to church to listen and pray.
Week is over, did it all get done?
NO, but tomorrow starts another one!
That is our week,
Now please repeat.

I. Love. This.

I can relate to some of that and I love that someone else did a poem. Well done!
