The Snaggle Tooth Monster

If you are going to live in our house, it is a known fact that you must be able to withstand being teased.  Our girls have learned this first hand, sometimes they play along, or tease back, but certain things will get a reaction every time.

Like pretending to back out of the driveway while one child or the other takes FOREVER getting themselves in the car.  Last weekend we jumped up early to go out for garden building supplies without making ourselves pretty.  As Rob was backing and teasing Signe, the last one to the car, she ran up waving her arms saying "WAIT!" and we all burst into laughter.  Not at her panic, which was only part of the routine--her playing along with dad's game, but at her crazy appearance.

The Snaggle Tooth Monster had arrived.

Her cowlicky bangs where flying in various directions and she had on her "crazy eyes" (as she likes to call them) and her open mouth displayed the current state of her six year old chompers, minus a couple teeth with one very loose, very crooked front tooth topping it off.

When she got in the car we told her she looked like a snaggle tooth monster.  She giggled and gave us the face again.

But the fun and games where over today when I made her a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch.  Apparently snaggle teeth and gaping holes make for difficult eating.  It sort of takes the "bite" out of her scary monster routine.

Luckily we came up with a solution. . .

And bite sized sandwich cubes were invented.  I have a feeling they might become a regular around here.  It seems ham and cheese on whole wheat tastes better when it's poppable.

For now the Snaggle Tooth Monster has been subdued. . .
