Summer List

I have spent the last few weeks reading Faulkner, Achebe, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zora Neale Hurston, Joseph Conrad, Mary Prince, Equiano, Salman Rushdie, Stepto, Frederick Douglas. . . and a few others.  I have spent the last week writing SIX essays.  My brain is throbbing. . . (of course that could be due to the cold that took up residence in there over two weeks ago and won't get out). . .

. . .and yet, you know what I have been thinking about?

What books I want to read once I graduate in May.  And what things I will write--things I choose to write about.  Because reading and writing are two of my favorite things and while I don't hate doing them for school, I'd rather do it for fun.

This past weekend was sixty and sunny.  I worked in my yard.  I breathed fresh air.  I thought about flowers. . . and summer.

So, since I am and always will be a lister, I am working on a list of things to read this summer.  I might even start a book club.

What do you suggest? Have you read any good books lately?

The Help is an awesome book. I am reading it in two different bookclubs. You will love it!
