One Year Ago Today. . .

. . .the moving van pulled up outside our house and spewed all our worldly possessions forth in a rapid procession. It was a lovely autumn day with cool weather and a profusion of fall color. The girls were giddy with excitement and Rob and I were slightly sore from our one night excursion on the floor of our very empty future bedroom.

Several of our neighbors greeted us with warm welcome and our home quickly filled with furniture and future plans. Within two weeks we were all settled. The house was unpacked, the girls were in school, making friends, and we were learning our way around. Then the rain began and poured right on through 'til June--but somehow we didn't mind. It seems fitting that the anniversary of our arrival has been sunny and bright. The perfect autumn day for reminiscing. Tomorrow the rain will start.

It is hard to believe we have been here for a whole year already. What was first meant to be a short lived stepping stone on to other places has become home. A place that makes us smile in wonder. A place where we are quickly putting down roots. A place for our plans to unfold. . . our children to make memories and fast friends. A place to start traditions and make additions. To settle in and get comfy.

We have fallen in love, and we are committed to staying.

It is so amazing how fast time goes by. It seems like you blink and the whole week is over!

My house and I just had our 2 year anniversary. I thought I'd want to get the heck out of Dodge when all this stuff happened in my life, but instead it felt safe and comfortable to be here---like an old friend. Funny how our homes just become extensions of us and our personalities and dreams.

Happy House-iversary to you! Glad you feel at home!

I'm so glad you moved in next door. We couldn't ask for better neighbors and we are so glad that we have all become friends. We especially love that Avery & Signe have found friends in eachother. I hope that your roots get deeper and you stay for a long time to come!
