White Dresses. . .Revisited

You might recall my post about all things white. The white sundress made my list of lovely white things that I can't get enough of. While I have been here in Idaho visiting family it just so happened that not only did I bring my girls' white dresses, but Rob's sister brought her girls' white dresses. I couldn't resist.

The only thing prettier than a little girl in a white sundress is a whole passel of little girls in white sundresses.

So I followed them around (and occasionally told them where to stand) and took loads of pictures of them in all their purity and innocence. . .
. . .because when they look like this, you don't remember their arguing, or their love of dirt, or their occasional sassiness. . .

It's a sight that just makes you sigh and deceives you for a short while into believing that they are perfect little angels who are always clean and well behaved. . .

The sun glinting off the golden locks of this six pack helps to foster the illusion. . .

Never mind the myriad of possible ways white dresses and small children are incompatible. . .

Or that streams beds are not always flowing with pure, clean, sparkly water. . .

Forget about all that . . . look at the loveliness, the innocence. . .and when all that fails??

Remember the bleach!

I love them stomping through the mud :)! You'll have to look at my friend Melissa's blog. She lives near the beach and her kids are ALWAYS dressed in white and standing on the sand having their photos taken! They look like they live in Victoria magazine! www.alittleloveliness.blogspot.com.

Hope you're still enjoying your vacation!

I used to FEAR the white. Then, the bleach pen came into my life, and I was never quite the same....LOVE the white dresses!

as I was reading the post, that last picture came to mind. I am totally surprised that it was only one kid. I don't buy white for my kids b/c it instantly becomes covered in stains but maybe that is the difference in boys and girls (I have mostly boys)

Found you through SITS.

Because of my tomboyishness, I favor the last pic the best. Little girls in white (although bellisima) freak me out. I am all about the splatting of the mud and getting into play time with both feet firmly planted in the middle of the puddle.

If I had to hold the hem of my skirt and make sure that I didn't get any stains on my outfit, etc., etc., I would rather not be outdoors at all. Just sit my precious little behind on the veranda swing, so I can sip iced tea and eat tea cakes in my pearl white gloves while fanning myself with my wide brimmed hat. Lah-dee-dah. Not for me, please!

I'd rather be Becky and go foraging with Tom Sawyer in the caves or better yet go rafting down the river with Huckleberry Finn.

YOU HAVE ME ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING...
when you said "girls in white dresses..." I immediately thought of my daughter ... the real song would go "Girls in white dresses with splishes and spashes, stains that stay on longer than eyelashes, thank god for bleach and washing machines... These are a few of MY favorite things...
I am so Julie Andrews...
The photos are absolutley beautiful.
I love the purity of them going through the woods and stream and the reality that even little girls cannot resist getting dirty!
Such a smile on my face! THANK YOU!
