Silence is Golden. . .

I love my kids to bits and pieces, but I have been dreaming of this day for weeks!  However, it was hard to drop my daughter off at middle school and have her say:

"Leave the camera in the car." Then she only let me walk her halfway to her home room.  I hovered at the halfway point watching my grown up girl walk away until the principal assured me I could go all the way.

"She doesn't want me to walk her." I explained, kind of sad that she didn't need me.

"Well, I will go down and make sure there is no confusion."  He offered with a smile.

She is going to be fine.

As for Signe, she was stoked to be in first grade and couldn't wait to meet her classmates. She skipped all the way to class and held my hand and even let me take two pictures of her at her desk. . . and kiss her in front of other people.

It's good to know I am still needed.

And it is very good to sit in a silent house and ponder my plans for the day in peace.

Hope they are enjoying their first day as much as you are. We waited for the bus as "practice" this morning. Will Signe be riding it tomorrow? Avery is really looking forward to that. I am going to meet the bus at school so I can take some pictures of her in her class.

I have very mixed emotions about school starting this year (we start next week after Labor Day), especially since summer has been so mild and it doesn't really seem like we had one. My house won't be as quiet as yours, but with Evan going to 1st grade and Seth in preschool 3 days a week, there will certainly be a few hours of peace.

There will be plenty of things they will still need you for. When one door closes another one opens. And they'll become much more stressful. :-)
